RPV's Run for Myles

why we do it

Honoring His Legacy

At Run For Myles, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are fueled by an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the love and support we have received since the passing of Myles Helm. This event serves as a tribute to his remarkable life and an opportunity to give back to the community he held dear.

Myles Helm was an extraordinary individual who completed countless races, including two Ironman World Championships and over 60 marathons. Among all his achievements, the 20 marathons he ran in Palos Verdes held a special place in his heart. Fulfilling his dream of making Palos Verdes his home, Myles found immense joy in this city. Preserving its breathtaking beauty became a cause close to his heart.

On Saturday, September 28th, 2024, we invite you to join us for Run For Myles. Lace up your shoes and embark on a memorable 5k or 10k run/walk, set against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. As you traverse the scenic road course, you’ll pass iconic landmarks like the Point Vicente Lighthouse and Terranea Resort.

Proceeds from this year’s event will directly benefit the Portuguese Landslide Relief Fund managed by the Rotary Club of Palos Verdes Peninsula.  A state of emergency was recently declared in Rancho Palos Verdes as the city grapples with severe land movement affecting hundreds of structures. By participating in RPV’s Run For Myles, you will support the efforts of the city of Rancho Palos Verdes in managing this crisis .
